A One-Stop Shop for Advice, Guidance, Information and Signposting
That, in a nutshell, describes The Pembrokeshire Community Hub: a great new community resource for anyone and everyone living in the county. And the first place to go when looking for advice, guidance, support, information or signposting.
Originally set up by Pembrokeshire County Council as an emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, it was aimed at people who were isolating or vulnerable and who needed help with anything from food shopping, collection of prescriptions to walking the dog.
It was a place where people could get much-needed assistance either for themselves or on behalf of others.
The Hub worked through a dynamic multi-agency approach, taking an incredible nine and a half thousand calls. And in around half of those conversations it quickly became clear that, after dealing with the specific query, other problems could be identified, problems with which the caller could also be helped.
Because of this level of assistance and the speed and success with which it could be delivered, it soon became obvious that the Hub was an extremely valuable way for people to access preventative services, to get help with issues as early as possible.
The decision to make a permanent version of The Community Hub, therefore, was a no brainer.
The new Pembrokeshire Community Hub is now being run by PAVS and its partners, based in the PAVS offices but also out and about in the community.
